The Data Behind the Blue Ocean

I used to think the "Blue Ocean" was just a business metaphor. Then I looked at the data. 🌊 For my final project at VCU, I spent weeks digging into 379 NOAA observations of microplastics in the Indian Ocean. I expected to just find "pollution." Instead, I found a massive supply-chain secret: Beach collection is 18x more efficient than open-ocean harvesting. 📈 Seeing that massive gap in the UAE, a coastline that is practically unmonitored despite its strategic location, changed how I view environmental data. It's not just a crisis; it's an untapped frontier for the circular economy. Huge thanks to Prof. Cesar Zamudio for pushing me to look "outside the box".
